Key Responsibilities 

  • Welding Operations: Execute welding tasks using MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques to join metal components as per technical specifications. 
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine precise welding requirements. 
  • Fabrication and Repair: Fabricate new metal components and perform repairs on existing structures, ensuring structural soundness and conformity to specifications. 
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of welding machinery and equipment. Tools: Utilise handheld tools such as a handheld drill, grinders etc. and operate callipers, weld gauges, tape measure and other welding hand tools. Continuous Improvement: Continually evaluate weld machine performance and technology to improve cycle times. 
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect completed welds to verify their quality and compliance with design specifications. Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified. Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols and practices in all welding and fabrication activities. 

 

Qualifications and Technical Capabilities

Technical Expertise: Proficient in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, arc welding) and capable of operating related machinery. Trade Qualified (Heavy Fab Level 4) or equivalent. Drawing Interpretation: Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and measurements accurately. Physical Dexterity: Excellent manual skills for handling welding and fabrication tasks.

Steel Fixers

We are looking for steel structure riggers in bay of plenty to be part of a team for developing new structures in and around bay of plenty.

The successful candidate requires:

  • Able to transport themselves to work and back
  • Experience in steel structure, bolting, crane slinging, working on height and EWP experience.
  • Ensure a full working knowledge of relevant machinery used in steel rigging process.
  • The daily checking and routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Responsible for fabricating, assembling and welding structural components to the highest quality standards.
  • Responsible for reading and accurately interpreting workshop drawings
  • Weld structural components as required.
  • Check welds during process and once complete.
  • Any bolting and fixing work must be to correct industry and client specifications.
  • Ensure site equipment including cutting and cranes / access plant is used appropriately for each job.
  • Ensure that all specialized equipment is only used once the appropriate training has been received.
  • Ensure job processes, use of plant & equipment is strictly in accordance with company training and records
  • Responsible for the operating of access equipment and slinging loads.
  • Report any drawing discrepancies and other issues that affect the site to the site supervisor.
